hair accessoriesWhen I cut my hair, I didn’t realize how short it was going to be. My hair has since grown and I can now put my hair in a ponytail but I thought I’d share with you 7 hairstyles that I did when I had short hair.

I am giving you 4 hairstyles that are an everyday look and 3 that are a little bit more “fancy”. I put fancy in quotation marks because typically you would wear these hairstyles to a social gathering.

This post is all about short hair hairstyles.

easy hairstyles

Sometimes you don’t have enough time or are running late to work and you just need an easy hairstyle. These hairstyles will look like you took 30 minutes to do when in reality it only took you 5 minutes. They are going to be a lifesaver and the ones we like to call the “effortless look”.

1. Low loose bun with loose waves on the side

All the hairstyles are easy and don’t take much time to do but this is normally my go-to and my fave out of all the below.

Supplies you will need

Directions

  1. Use your wide tooth comb to part your hair to either side or down the middle.
  2. Take a small section of hair from both sides and secure it with a  duckbill clip.
  3. Using your fingers comb your hair and leave the small sections on each side alone we will deal with those in step 5. Start gathering your hair toward the back and secure it with a hair tie.
  4. Now twist the hair and wrap it around your ponytail. Secure with bobby pins.
  5. Remove the clips and curl each strand. Make sure to curl the curls outward to make them look more natural and open up your face. Remember to use a heat protectant.
  6. Once you are finished, spray some hairspray to tame down any loose hairs.

2. Half updo with braid

Directions

  1. Use your wide tooth comb to part your hair to either side or down the middle.
  2. Take a small section of hair from each side and secure the rest of the hair to the back with a hair clip.
  3. Start with either side and do a french braid, make sure to secure each one with a small elastic hair tie.
  4. Now that you have both braids you want to tug at each strand just a little bit so it gives it the pancake effect. Remember to tug at the strands carefully, if you tug at them too much you might end up messing up your braid.
  5. Go ahead and let the rest of your hair down and comb your hair to get rid of any tangles.
  6. Now take each braid from each side and tie them together in the back.
  7. If you have frizzy hair apply a little bit of anti-frizz serum or hair moose on the areas where you have the most frizz.

Supplies you will need

  • Gel
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair clip
  • Straightener
  • Heat protectant
  • Hair tie

Directions

  1. Start by straightening your hair and remember to use a heat protectant.
  2. Use your wide tooth comb to part your hair to either side.
  3. Take a small section from each side and  Now take a small amount of gel and apply it to the small sections you just took out. Using your brush, brush the hair back so it looks slick and it tames hair. Remember that this is a slick look and you want it to look slick without it looking drenched in hair products.
  4. Using your hair brush, brush your hair towards the back and secure it with a hair tie.
  5. Adjust your hair to make sure no hair strands are sticking up. If your ponytail is frizzy take a little bit more gel and apply it to the ends to make sure your hair stays put.
  6. Add your hair clip to the side where you parted your hair & you are all done!

2.  Straight Slick back Hair

  • Hairbrush

  • Straightener
  • Heat protectant
  • Hair tie

Directions

  1. Start by straightening your hair and remember to use a heat protectant.
  2. Use your wide tooth comb to part your hair to either side
  3. Take a small section of hair from each side and secure the rest of the hair to the back with a hair clip ( reference the image above). Because this is a slick look you want to take some gel and apply it to the small sections you just took out. Use your brush to help slick and tame your frizzy hair.
  4. Once both sections are slick you want to take both sections to secure in the back with a small elastic hair tie (reference image on top).
  5. Let down your hair and comb through for any tangles
  6. Add hair hairspray (optional)

3. Fancy Updo
