Do you have oily skin and are looking for the best skin care products for oily skin? Here are some of my favorite products for oily skin and some that I think you will love!

When you choose products for oily skin, make sure to look for ingredients meant for oily skin like salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid.

You want to stay away from products that have scents, they can cause your skin to irritate. If you want to use a fragrance, lean towards natural scents like oils.

This post is all about the best skincare products for oily skin.

Cleanser

A cleanser should be an essential in your skincare products. You should use it in the mornings and at night or post-workout. A cleanser is going to remove any excess dirt and impurities from your face. It is also going to help avoid your pores from getting clogged. My current cleanser is the Clean & Clear foaming facial cleanser, it is oil-free and great for sensitive skin. Another thing you will love is that it makes your skin feel so refreshed and hydrated when you wash it off.

Eye Cream

Using an under-eye cream is also a great product to add to your skincare routine. Eye cream is going to help with wrinkles, puffiness, anti-aging, and dark circles. I have used different kinds of under-eye creams but my all-time fave is Clinique all about eyes.  Here are a couple of reasons you will love it.

  • You can wear it underneath your makeup (just make sure it dries before applying products on top)
  • It will help with your dark circles
  • Lightweight cream
  • It will help with the overall under-eye appearance

Even if you don’t have any wrinkles or dark circles you can still use this product. It is said that it is never too early to start wearing eye creams. You can start wearing it as early as your 20s. You’re going to get a head start on preventing wrinkles and protecting the skin under your eyes.

Keep in mind that the area under the eye is very delicate and thin so make sure to test out any products before fully adding them to your daily routine.

Moisturizer

Another favorite and something you should use daily is moisturizer. Believe me, when I say a moisturizer does not make your face oily unless you pick up a moisturizer that is not meant for oily skin. Knowing what type of skin you have and choosing the right products for your skin will make a big difference in your skincare routine. You have probably already read about this moisturizer in a previous post but I just love the way it feels on your skin. It’s the Clinique’s moisturizing gel, it is lightweight, dries quickly, and moisturizes your skin without making your face look greasy.

Face Brush

A face brush is great to use when washing your face in the morning or after removing your makeup. A lot of people use the brush directly on their face to remove a full face of makeup but by doing this you waste more product (cleanser) and you aren’t removing all of your makeup. When using a face brush to remove makeup you should first use a cleansing towelette or a cotton pad with makeup remover liquid and remove as much makeup as possible. Then you can use your daily cleanser and your face brush to remove any makeup left behind. Doing this will help deep clean and boost hydration.

Here is the link to the brush that I use called Vanity Planet. I have been using this brush for 4 years & I love it! It comes with three interchangeable face brushes (one for cleansing, one for exfoliating, & a silicone brush). I use the silicone brush as a daily cleanser ( so in the mornings, at night, or post-workout). The one that is recommended as a daily cleanser I only use when I have a full face of makeup and I want to remove any makeup left behind. The exfoliating brush I only use once a week if even to remove dead skin or any other impurities.

Makeup removers

Believe it or not, some makeup removers are not suitable for oily skin. They can cause more harm than good. Using makeup removers that are not suitable for your skin type can cause irritation or dehydration.

Here are two different products to use if you have oily skin

  1. Neutrogena Liquid Towelettes: contains hyaluronic acid ( known to help hydrate your skin, smooth skin texture and help with the appearance of tightness in the skin).
  2. Simple Liquid remover with cotton pads

Face Masks

Face masks are great to use once a week. Keep in mind that there are multiple face masks to use and depending on which one you use they are all going to give you different results. Here are two that I have personally used and are great to moisturize and exfoliate.

  1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost: this one is super easy to apply. This face mask is going to moisturize and hydrate your face.
  2. Mary Kay clear proof: going to exfoliate and absorb excess oils

Quick Tip: When applying liquid face masks I recommend using a flat silicon brush. This is going to make it easier to apply.

Jada Stone/  Facial Roller

The Jada stone and the facial roller are two products that I recently added to my skincare routine. I read the benefits of this and I knew I had to try it. The Jada stone is meant to help reduce wrinkles and fine lines. While the Jada gua sha massager is going to help increase blood circulation and stimulate pressure points to relax.

Foundation

I recently started using the NYX can’t stop won’t stop foundation & it works great! It is full-face coverage and it has a matte finish. It is also super lightweight and feels like you’re not wearing any makeup. The weather here in Texas has been super hot and let me tell you that this foundation lasts you at least 12+ hours without your face looking greasy. The packaging claims it lasts 24 hr but at some point, I have to take my makeup off so I have yet to put it to that test.

TIPS

  • For oily skin, it is recommended that you don’t use oil-based products. Otherwise, it’s going to make your oily skin oiler & you don’t want that.
  • Use Revlon on the go or oil-removing sheets when wearing makeup, this is going to help remove any excess oil from your face.
  • Avoid touching your face! I’m sure I have mentioned this in a couple of previous skincare posts but I can’t stress it enough. I used to get a lot of acne and I would pop them, causing scarring.

The secret to having great skin is by taking care of it and staying consistent with your skincare routine. Yes, it sounds like a lot of products to use and time-consuming but trust me when I say consistency is key. Also, once you start applying them daily it will become second nature. You will also see a difference in your skin.

Before I started my skincare journey my skin felt lifeless. If you have read other articles you know that I used to believe that wearing moisturizer would make your skin oily so I didn’t apply anything to my face. Big mistake!! Your skin needs a moisturizer to moisturize your face and keep it looking healthy, glowing, and youthful. Here are some pictures of my skin before I started using products on my face VS.now that I have a skincare routine. This is with no makeup or filter applied. I feel more confident going out in public without makeup because my skin looks so good. It looks glowy, without it looking dewy or oily.

TAKEAWAYS

  1. If you don’t currently have a skincare routine or don’t use any products for your face, start looking into it to keep your skin moisturized.
  2. Everyone has a different skin type, so you must consider what products work best for you. Not all products are suitable for everyone. Test, Test, Test!
  3. For best results stay consistent with your skincare routine.
