No matter what type of skin you have, a skin care routine is essential! A skin care routine is going to help the appearance of your skin, improve skin hydration, slow down aging, and boost confidence.

This guide is going to go into detail with all the steps you can incorporate into your skin care routine. Along with all the benefits it will do for your skin. Keep in mind that NOT all steps are required for you to have healthy skin. These are only recommended steps. Remember that everyone has different types of skin (oily, dry & combination) so accommodate it to your skin care needs.

This post is all about healthy skin care.

1.Cleanser- If you have read any other skin care routine post on the blog you know that I rave about the importance of using a cleanser so I’ll keep it short. Using a cleanser is going to help remove excess dirt and unclog pores.

  • # of Times to use: Do this twice a day (morning & night)
  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

2. Serums Serums are great to use as they provide multiple benefits for your skin. Depending on the type of serum you use, it’s going to help soothe skin, improve fine lines and wrinkles and prevent damage from UV light. All in all, a serum is going to help treat issues like discoloration and fine lines.

  • # of Times to use: 2 times a day (before you apply your makeup and after you remove your makeup)
  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

3. Facial massageNow this step sounds like you have to go to a spa but you don’t. You can actually use your hands or a facial massage roller with a face serum that is suitable for your skin. Performing a facial massage is going to help combat anti-aging, wrinkles and acne. It is also going to help promote blood circulation and a healthier looking skin. On the plus side it feels super relaxing!

  • # of Times to use: 2-3 times a week
  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

4. Lip maskA lip mask is great to use to remove dry skin. Not only that but using a lip mask is going to help prevent your lips from drying out and stay moisturized.

  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

6. Toner Unlike an exfoliator a toner is going to help balance out the skin and remove residue from the cleanser, any leftover makeup, dirt, and oil. A toner is also going to help rebalance and maintain the skin’s PHs levels.

  • # of Times to use: as needed ( recommended to use after cleanser)
  • Recommended for: oily skin

7. MoisturizerA moisturizer is going to help prevent dryness and soothe sensitive skin while keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized throughout the day.

  • # of Times to use: moisturizing should also be applied twice a day ( morning & night) or as necessary
  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

8. Eye cream- An eye cream is specifically going to target the area underneath your eye. It’s going to help prevent signs of aging, reduce the appearance of dark circles, wrinkles or fine lines and puffiness.

  • # of Times to use: 2 times a day (before you apply your makeup and after you remove your makeup)
  • Recommended for: All types of skin (oily, dry & combination)

RECAP

The most important step is to start a skincare routine, even if that means only using a moisturizer, once you have that down start adding a cleanser, then an exfoliator, and so on. Once you have established a skincare routine it is much easier to maintain and keep up with it. Having a skincare routine doesn’t require you to go to the store and spend thousands of $$ on products. Start off with drugstore products and once you feel more comfortable you can invest in higher end products.

Certainly, the list mentioned above includes too many steps to keep up with especially if you’re just starting out your skincare routine. The list is a guide for you to see what each product will do for your skin and not necessarily all products that you need to incorporate into your skin care routine to have healthy looking skin. When it comes to a skincare routine it is customizable to each one’s preferences and what works best for you!

Now that you have an understanding of what each product does and why it’s beneficial for your skin. Go ahead and start building your skincare routine. And remember to see results and keep your skin looking radiant and healthy be CONSISTENT!

TAKEAWAYS

  1. Not all products are suitable for everyone. TEST, TEST, TEST!
  2. It is never too late to start a skincare routine, the most important thing is that you start one.
  3. Please note these steps are not in order of a skincare routine.
